American Jobs Lost And Gained In Business Process Outsourcing
As businesses look to cut the costs of doing business, business process outsourcing becomes one of the most common subjects of the American businessperson and the American worker. Business process outsourcing becomes the subject of communication for both the businessperson and the worker for different reasons though. The businessperson views business process outsourcing as an advantage while the worker views it as a job loss. The outsourcing of business processes does not need to be a win-lose situation though, it can be a win-win situation. The businessperson views business process outsourcing as a means to cut the costs associated with doing business by outsourcing the non-core aspects of the business life. The non-core duties are often the contacting of customers and venders, accounting, shipping, human resources, and other transactional work. The benefits outsourcing such non-core aspects of the business is the cost associated with running each section is cut dramatically. A business can hire another company to do the non-core duties for less than it would cost to hire someone permanently to do those duties in the company. Much of a business’ expenses are the overhead associated with each employee. Each employee must receive a minimum of $7.15 and hour. For each full time employee health insurance, vacation and other benefits add up to the cost of hiring an employee. Another major expense is the building or purchasing of areas for these employees to work. To have an area dedicated to call work means that a business must provide heating, office equipment, computers and software for each employee doing the call work. This concept applies for the shipping and receiving, human resources, accounting, and transactional aspects of the business.
There is help though. There are call centers, human resources, shipping agencies and accounting firms that all handle business process outsourcing. These companies can be on or off shore and either provide jobs for the American work or take them away. By working with companies that are found in the United States, both the businessperson and the working person can be placated.
Using call centers as an example, here are call centers located throughout the world that specialize in American business process outsourcing. The real advantage to using these companies verse an American call center is the cost. The American dollar still has strength in many countries and more can be obtained for the dollar there. The major disadvantage is the customer response to outsourcing to another country when American workers go un-employed.
A solution would be to strike a competitive contract with an American business process outsourcing call center. By hiring an American company to handle the business process outsourcing solutions, American money can be kept in America and American workers can enjoy the benefits of working. This can also increase business productivity by striking competitive deals and having a reputation of doing business with other American companies. With the proper research, determination and business sense, finding effective solutions for the businessperson and the working person can be achieved so that both have a win situation.
